External Hard Drive Data Recovery

I was asking my computer guru friend (he truly know everything there is to know about computers) what the difference was between external hard drive data recovery and internal. He expained it but it went over my head as usually everything does. I’m such a newbie its ridiculous and even embarrassing but at least I’m having fun blogging. So basically the only difference between a hard drive and an external hard drive is that it is outside of the computer cab. Duh! I knew that. Hey, that’s why I’m in school. External hard drive data recovery software is my main discovery over the last week or so and other than that I haven’t learned a whole lot. I have been learning how it works though and I intend to back up everything with and external hard drive data recovery system. I want to have both the external hard drive and data recovery software to prevent further mishaps. I have started to get some stuff down but it’s hard for me to remember. I know that to use the external hard drive data recovery software you have to install a new operating system on the new hard drive to make it work. Then connect the old hard drive by putting it in an external cab and wiring it via usb. This will allow you to run the software (dish imaging software) from the new drive and you can start the process of recovering data. This is for when the hard drive is physically damaged. Running the recovery software will eliminate the need to actually write to the old drive which we want to avoid if possible. I also kinda get the whole idea that we don’t want to accidentally write to any files on the old drive so you have to disconnect the boot partition or else. This is the basic gist of it all. I’m starting to get it. It’s like anything else, at first it seems complicated then after you get the hang of it (that magic moment) it all seems so much easier. I’m bent on this external data recovery thing because I want to fool proof my system totally, especially after that last mishap. So far I haven’t found anything better than Get Data Back for data recovery software. That’s pretty cheap software almost a discount priced for data recovery software and I’m probably going to buy it. I’ve now heard from several folks that it works well. I will post some links to reviews or maybe write my own but I don’t plan on buying external hard drive data recovery software left and right just to write reviews, so I’ll probably post some links to good reviews in a future post. Oh and before I forget to jot this down, laptop data recovery is different than home pc data recovery. It’s a different animal altogether. It is possible to install an os on an external hard drive but it wants to write to the old drive if you do. This must be avoided if possible. I think you need to disconnect the controller that tells the mother board what to provide access to. I think it’s the IDE. So this is where it gets complicated. Those darn laptops. I will definitely have to make a post on that in the future when I get my head around it.

Hard Drive Data Recovery

I intend to use this blog as a personal journal during school. I am right now concentrating on data recovery and I intend to just jot down some tips and make special notes. Feel free to take from it what you can and whatever you find useful.
